About

Point at the problem. We’ll optimise it.

Optimise IT is an Australian technology consultancy. We partner with businesses to find what’s quietly slowing them down or costing them money — then we fix it, and stay on to make sure it stays fixed. This is how we got here.

How it started

Trust us with one thing, and the scope grows.

The business has been going since around 2010 — for years under a different name, and through a remarkable breadth of work. The very first job was a website. From there it spread: AV and live events, film and photography, live conference broadcasts, online stores, data cabling and networking. Trust us with one thing and do it well, and clients would ask about the next.

From around 2018 the work settled deliberately into I.T. — workflow systems, identity and single sign-on, infrastructure — and that’s the thread that runs straight to today. The pattern never changed: as trust grew, so did the scope.

That breadth is now our edge. Having worked hands-on across so many disciplines, we understand how technical solutions actually fit together — broadly and functionally — in a way a narrower IT background rarely allows.

The name

Why “Optimise IT”?

The turning point came from a long-standing client — the director of a steel fabrication business we’d worked with for years — who pointed out, off the cuff, that the old name no longer fit what we actually did, and suggested “Optimise IT” on the spot.

It stuck, because it carries a deliberate double meaning:

  • Optimise it — we optimise things, and dream up better ways to do them
  • Optimise I.T. — the industry we do it in

His point was simple: he’d raise a problem, and we’d optimise it — or invent a better way to do it altogether. The tagline, “Your tech, simplified.”, was coined around that same idea.

What we believe

Not wall posters. How we actually operate.

Integrity above all

We tell clients the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable. If we make a mistake, we own it.

Quality is non-negotiable

Same standard on every job, whatever the size. We’d rather decline work than do it badly.

Outcomes over outputs

We don’t sell hours or tools — we make businesses run better. If it doesn’t improve your situation, we won’t recommend it.

Character first, skills second

Skills can be taught. Character can’t. It’s how we hire, and how we choose who to work with.

Develop people, don’t create dependency

We want clients to understand their own systems — a partner, not a jailer.

Relationships over transactions

Our best work comes from deep, long-term relationships. That trust is worth protecting.

The people

Two states. One standard.

Jesse Szalay

Jesse Szalay

Owner & Principal Consultant · Victoria

Jesse founded the business and leads its strategy, consultancy and client relationships. He’s the analytical mind behind how Optimise IT works — the person who walks into a business, sees the inefficiencies everyone else has stopped noticing, and works out what they’re really costing.

He’s been hands-on with technology for over twenty years — starting in 2004 across sound, lighting, film and event production, including more than a decade of large-scale church and conference production — and working professionally since 2010. He holds no formal IT qualifications, and we mention that deliberately: for two decades, clients have valued outcomes, skill and character over a piece of paper. That unusually broad background is exactly what lets him see whole systems, not slices.

Caleb Ferris

Caleb Ferris

Technician & Business Development · South-East Queensland

Caleb handles day-to-day technical support and client work, and drives much of the business development. Before Optimise IT, he spent nine years at Livingstone Christian College, running its AV department and help-desk support — including enrolling and managing the school’s device fleet. Like Jesse, his background also includes more than a decade of large-scale church and conference production. It’s a track record that speaks louder than any certificate.

Based on the Gold Coast, Caleb covers South-East Queensland on-site — Gold Coast, Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and surrounds — extending Optimise IT’s reach well beyond Victoria. He and Jesse have been close friends since their school years.

Where we’re headed

Built to last.

The long-term vision is a profitable, multigenerational family business: a team of twenty-plus serving fifty-plus long-term clients across Australia, run on systems and character rather than dependence on any one person. We hire the same way every time — character first, skills second.

We grow deliberately. One deep, well-served client relationship is worth more than ten one-off jobs. Slow and deep beats fast and shallow.

Point at the problem. We’ll optimise it.

Start with a short, no-commitment diagnostic. We’ll look at what you’ve got, tell you what we’d change and what it would save — and if everything’s in great shape, we’ll tell you that too.
